Whilst my sewing machine has been lying in pieces on the operating table, I’ve been playing tourist in my own town. The arrival of tiger cubs at Taronga Zoo has attracted thousands of cubs of the human kind, with prams galore and weary parents in tow. Go early if you want to avoid the masses, and you may also be lucky enough to get up close (but not too close) to the beautiful mother cat pictured above. Peacocks roam around the zoo freely, their magnificent plumes mesmerising – wishing I had a garden (a very large garden) to keep one as a pet.

The sewing machine has now returned from the doctor, with a new shuttle, all aligned and shiny. Apparently there were a couple of needles bent over and lodged in the shuttle somehow…oops. The lesson learnt here: always select the right needle for your choice of fabric, or pay the price! Crafty activity shall resume very shortly…
